1- Zanchetta/Romaco 10 Liters HSG, Model ROTO P10. According to the Zanchetta manual, the Roto P 10 is a "one-step" high shear high speed processor to mix dry powders, to granulate by liquid binder, to dry by heat and vacuum. Roto P 10 has a tilting bowl (+- 90 degrees) from vertical position by pneumatic actuator, to increase the flexibility of the machine and to have a better quality of the granules particularly with difficult products. The advantage of tilting is that it gives a gentle movement to the product during the drying phrase. This soft blending allows to stop the main impeller during the drying phase ( or at least to have an intermittent functioning at low speed), as the agitation of the product is done by the tilting. This allows to preserve granule size and quality and reduce the percentage of fines which is a negative consequent of continuous impeller agitation. Furthermore the tilting of 180 degrees increases the surface of thermal exchange between the hot walls of the Roto jacket (in which there is water) and the product, with the result of reducing drying times. The tilting has also a positive self-cleaning effect with a sensible reduction of sticking on the walls with majority of products. The bowl has a flat bottom, without dead points, completely jacketed for heating-cooling. The heating of the water in the jacket is made by means of an electric resistor located on one side of the bowl. The cooling is made by manually connecting the filling tap inlet and the drainage connection outlet with a pipe to have circulation of cool water in the jacket. The discharge valve is manually opened, totally inspectable and cleanable, profiled to match the bottom of the bowl to avoid stagnation of the product. The discharge valve is lateral to allow a faster discharge of the product or the cleaning water due to the tilting of the vessel. The lid is equipped with silicon gasket between lid and vessel, easily cleanable and it assures vacuum tight. The rotation of impeller and chopper is not possible when the life is open by means of micro-switches. The filter located on the lid allows a total recovery of powders. One filter cartridge is included in standard supply. The machine is connected to a vacuum pump which is installed in the basement. The 3-blade impeller scrapes the bottom, with a special shape to achieve optimal mixing and granulation. The impeller has high specific power (about 0, 15 divided by 0,20W/kg) and high TIP speed (9 divided by 10 m/sec). It can easily removed for inspection and cleaning when required. The shaft seal is of the double lip type in Gylon (FDA approved) and is be purged by compressed air (1,6divided by 5 NI/min) to avoid cross contamination. The fixed chopper is located on the lid and when the lid is open, the blades are completely inspectable. The chopper shaft seal is the same type of impeller one. The basement of the machine (900x900x1550 h mm) includes the power panel with the power contactors, thermal relays, transformer, operational relays, terminal boards, other electric auxiliaries. The basement can be opened from the two sides to allow maintenance operations. The basement includes the hydraulic group for impeller drive and the vacuum pump for drying of the product. The supply includes also the vacuum pipe between the machine and the pump. The control panel is located on one side of the machine basement with IP 55 protection.
The panel includes:
- emergency mushroom type push- buttons
-reset key selectors
-main switch
-compressed air/ Nitrogen for seal purging flowmeter
-HMI with numerical display and membrane type keyboard for process operations and semi- automatic programs activation. The process parameters which can be set on the HMI are:
-impeller on/off
-impeller speed
-chopper on/off
-tilting on/off
-heating on/off
-jacket temperature
- on/off impeller time
The display shows the following quantities:
-impeller speed
-product temperature
-jacket temperature
-cycle time
-hydraulic pressure (to better measure the granulation end point)
-alarm or service messages
-vacuum level (in case of digital vacuum meter supplied with Rotoprint)

The machine is supplied with GA. ST. system to reduce drying time. It is possible to increase the flow rate of air/Nitrogen of the impeller seal purging from 5 to 16 NI/min to have the GA. ST effect on drying of granules. The system includes:
-circuit for the injection of gas
-flow regulator
-flowmeter

The standard accessories of the base machine are:
-Pressurised 0,75 I vessel to spray the binding solution
-Product temperature probe located on the lid
-Water temperature probe located on the bowl
-Vaccum breaking valve with filler
-Safety valve with filter
-Gas flowmeter for the regulation and control of seal flushing gas and GA. ST.
-Special tool to easily remove impeller seal
-Maintenance kit including:
N. 1 lid gasket
N.2 gasket for filters housing (1+1)
N.1 cartridge for vacuum filter
N.1 double lips chopper seal
N.2 single lip impeller seal

The standard documentation provided by Zanchetta with the base machine configuration is the following:
- Installation, Use and Maintenance manual
-HMI manual and Rotoprint manual (if supplied)
