Details
According to the OEM manual, The "MINI" Mill is a small, yet self-contained, agitator bead mill for the production of laboratory sized dispersion samples. The Eiger mill is of a unique design in that the main agitator shaft is an integral part of the main drive motor. The arrangement eliminates the need for secondary drive chains and bearing housings, thereby reducing secondary drive induced vibration and increasing the service life of the main shaft seals and other rotating components. Noise levels are also considerably reduced. A second unique feature of the "MINI" is that the direct drive incorporates its own pumping system mounted directly onto the main drive shaft. This provide continuous circulation of the product at very fast rates, through the bead bed so that small samples of the product will be produced in exceptionally fast cycle times. The integral pumping mechanism is a two stage design. The product is drawn down from the feed funnel by the feed screw, passed into a centrifugal pumping ring, through a bead retaining screen, up through the circulation pipe and back down into the feed funnel at rates of up to 40 liters/hour. Speed of the shaft rotation, the pumping rate and grinding efficiency can be fixed or variable depending upon the type of motor drive system originally purchased. Dispersion efficiency can be varied by adjusting the volume of beads present in the milling chamber. The product temperature is extracted by passing water through the chamber jacket. When satisfactorily dispersed, the sample is removed by swiveling the circulation pipe on side.
